Intro

Hi, I'm Paul and I'm schizophrenic. Schizophrenic people are regular people who suffer from a chanllenging illness. The illness manifests in different ways: most schizophrenics hear voices in their heads or believe delusions like that people are out to get them. These are classified as positive symptoms meaning that these are elements that other people don't experience. Negative symptoms include apathy (lack of emotion), lack of motivation and inability to complete tasks. These are called negative symptoms because they are elements that the schizophrenic doesn't experience.

It is important for the lay public to realise that having schizophrenia doesn't make a person dangerous or aggressive, any more than having cancer or any other illness would.

Medication and other treatment improve the symptoms of schizophrenia and many schizophrenic people are able to live normal lives working and raising a family.

Thank you for your interest in schizophrenia. Bookmark this page, I will be posting here regularly and feel free to comment or ask any questions.
